Climbing & Via Ferrata
Via Ferrate - is the latest trend in mountain sport which allows even hikers - with the appropriate equipment and dependant on difficulty, of course - to get a taste of the vertical extremes. These so-called „Via Ferratas“ are secured to the rocks with steel cables and iron pins.
The degree of difficulty ranges from A (easy) to E (extremely difficult) and can be experienced on the four via Ferrate in the Mayrhofen Hippach holiday resort. We hope you enjoy this unique experience!
Vertical to the face
The bizarre rock formations and steep rock faces found in the Zillertal Alps National Park provide pure excitement for climbing enthusiasts. Alpinists equipped with rope, pickaxe and crampons will find perfect summit tours.
Among other things the visitor will find here are the "Ewigen Jagdgründe" (Eternal Hunting Grounds), with two approx. 60 m-high granite rocks that jut out of the ground close to the Gasthof Breitlahner in Zemmgrund. These climbing grounds, with a difficulty of 4-10, are very safe and amongst the finest to be found in Europe. Some of the best longer routes for sports climbers are also located around Ginzling, where some of the largest bouldering areas are tucked away.
Mountain climbing is and remains a special experience. The great-grandchildren of some of the greatest mountain guides and pioneers are today leading figures in the modern climbing scene.
